Limey: Descaler and Corrosion Remover

EC bottle sample 125Designed to eliminate lost efficiency of heat exchange equipment due to scale and corrosion, use Limey to descale equipment quickly without damaging pipes or fittings. Limey’s powerful acids produce a cleaning action without heat, this action cleans away rust, breaks up residues and dissolves water hardness scale. After hardened scales are gone, repairs are easier and coils heat faster.

DIRECTIONS

  • On heavy scale build-ups(more than 1/8 inch), use Limey in concentrated form. Allow Limey to stay in contact for as long as required to dissolve scale. Some heating of the acid solution may be necessary if the scale is particulary tough(about 150 F).
  • On light scale(less than 1/16 inch), Limey may be diluted 1 to 1 with water.
  • After scale is dissolved, thoroughly flush the coil or heat exchanger with water. On regular steel or other ferrous metals, make a solution of soda ash or some other alkaline corrosion inhibitor to prevent flash rusting of ferrous metals.
  • All spent acid solutions must be neutralized to a pH above 6 and below 9 with soda ash or sodium bicarbonate. Care must be taken when neutralizing large amounts of Limey with soda ash or sodium carbonate as large amounts of carbon dioxide are generated producing foaming and effervescence. A small amount of defoamer may be added to knock down the foam produced.
  • If the scale being removed contains copper or other heavy metal residues, additional pretreatment may be required if spent acid contains large amounts of these heavy metals.

DANGER: CORROSIVE. POISON. CAUSES IMMEDIATE BURNS TO EYES AND SKIN.
Contains hydrochloric acid and corrosion inhibitors. Wear neoprene gloves, neoprene aprons and boots and chemical goggles and face shield when handling the product or spent acid. See Material Safety Data Sheet for additional handling instructions and first aid procedures.
